UFC 210: Cormier vs Johnson 2: Staff Predictions

The much anticipated rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson takes place on Saturday at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. Also on the card former champion Chris Weidman takes on Gegard Mousasi. UFC 210 prelims kick off at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 leading into the main card at 10 p.m. shown exclusively on PPV. I will be Octagon side for the event and doing a LIVE blog from the arena…UFC 210: Cormier vs Johnson 2. Don’t even think about missing this one!

DANIEL CORMIER vs ANTHONY JOHNSON
Sawyer: I think the fight plays out similar to their first fight. Rumble comes out strong, Cormier weathers the storm, and finishes the fight in late 2nd/early 3rd.
Parkinson: Rumble’s power is amazing, however Cormier’s chin still solid. DC will grind Rumble on fence, followed by ground and pound for the win.
CHRIS WEIDMAN vs GEGARD MOUSASI
Sawyer: This is a HUGE fight for the likable Weidman. To me I think that fight at UFC 187 against Lyoto Machida took something out of him that he hasn’t been able to get back. I’m gonna go with Mousasi here, possibly by decision.
Parkinson: Gegard is on a roll! Weidman hasn’t looked the same since back surgery – lost his explosiveness and had his bell rung badly last two fight. Gegard takes the decision with crisp striking.
PATRICK COTE vs THIAGO ALVES
Sawyer: I’m gonna take the more active fighter, which is Cote in this one. Alves last win was over 2 years ago and his best days are behind him.
Parkinson: Battle of two veterans! Fully expect it to go to the scorecards as Alves slows down in round two and Cote wins the decision.
WILL BROOKS vs CHARLES OLIVIERA
Sawyer: I’m gonna go with Brooks here, although with not much confidence. Charles in the past has always hurt me, whether its a shocking loss or Charles just being Charles and missing weight.
Parkinson: Both guys need a win bad! Oliviera moving up in weight doesn’t bode well for him. Brooks gets the big win!
SEAN STRICKLAND vs KAMARU USMAN
Sawyer: I’ll take Usman. He’s on a 8-fight winning streak and is the favorite here….
Parkinson: Great fight – has potential for Fight of the Night honors. Going with Strickland by decision.
MYLES JURY vs MIKE DE LA TORRE
Sawyer: I’m going with Jury….I know he’s lost his last couple, but he’s the better fighter here.
Parkinson: Jury gets back in the win column with a nice showing.
